Respiratory Care and Assessment

The Covid-19 Pandemic is a fast moving and evolving situation. Nurses and health professional have an important role to play in the care of all of our patients. This eLearning package has been designed to prepare you for some of the challenges you may face in the coming months.

Objectives

By the end of the course you will:

  • Be able to perform a basic respiratory assessment
  • Recognise respiratory distress and the deterioration patient
  • Identify signs and symptoms of respiratory failure
  • Understand the different types of oxygen therapy available
  • Understand the importance of NEWS2 observations and early escalation
  • Understand your patients’s plan of care and ReSPECT/DNAR decisions
