New from e-Learning for Healthcare
Midwifery Identification, Stabilisation and Transfer of the Sick Newborn (MIST)
Health Education England’s e-Learning for Healthcare (HEE e-LfH) has worked with The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust and The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to develop an e-learning programme to support maternity and emergency teams treating unexpectedly unwell babies in community settings.
The Midwifery Identification, Stabilisation and Transfer of the Sick Newborn (MIST) programme is aimed at midwifery and ambulance colleagues to support the treatment plan for newborn babies who are, or have the potential to become, unwell following delivery in a community setting. The resources are designed to equip maternity and emergency teams with the knowledge required to extend care beyond the first minutes after birth, up to and including handover to the neonatal team.

Act Now (ACT)
NHS England and Health Education England have today launched ActNow, an e-learning tool developed for health service and care staff to help them reduce hospital delays for patients.
The ActNow e-learning programme is designed to bring to life the contents of the ActNow Grab Guides launched by NHSE/I and the QNI. The programme takes the learner through a wealth of resources which highlight how individuals at every level can take personal action to help people get home from hospital sooner or prevent admission altogether. Learners will become more aware of the multiplicity of factors that impact on patients’ time and how this can easily be wasted, leading to longer hospital stays than might be necessary. The programme is aimed at all clinical health and social care staff including nurses, AHPs, support and care workers.
